Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md.- The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team fell to McDaniel in a 1-1 (4-3 PK) loss in the first round of the Centennial Conference playoffs. The Diplomats outshot the Green Terror 8-5 with six shots on goal in the match.
McDaniel broke out onto the scoreboard first in the 40th minute on a shot that narrowly cleared the outstretched fingertips of Emma Nolan. The teams finished even in shots in the first half with two each.
Kate Boujoukos tied the game in the 81st minute on a strike from the top of the box that found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Sierra Brophy. The score was Boujoukos' second goal of her career and Brophy's third assist of the season.
McDaniel attempted to take a late lead in regulation on a chip shot from midfielder Jessica Weinoldt in the 87th minute. The shot would've snuck under the crossbar if it wasn't for a leaping Nolan to punch the shot over the bar to keep the game tied.
F&M put together three shots in overtime, including a laser from Julianna Sirico who tried putting it past the left post, but the attempt was batted out of play. The Diplomats' three shots in overtime were the only shots by either team in the period.
The Diplomats finish the season with a record of 10-3-5 and 4-3-3 in conference play to finish fifth in the latest Region V poll. F&M now awaits the announcement of the NCAA Tournament selections during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Monday.
