Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's basketball team (2-1) was defeated by Hampden-Sydney (2-1), 80-64, Saturday evening in the championship game of the William Marshall Tip-Off Tournament held in the Mayser Center.
F&M trailed 30-20 with eight minutes remaining until halftime when the Diplomats began a 23-8 run to take a 43-38 lead into the intermission. Sebastien Charles and Will Moreau each knocked down a three-pointer to start the run. Omar Nichols and Mark Suchy added another 11 points with Nichols knocking down a three with four minutes left. The Diplomats didn't stop attacking from beyond the arc as Jaylen Green and Moreau splashed a three-pointer each to end the half.
F&M took a six-point lead on a three-pointer from Riiny Giir for the biggest lead of the night for the Diplomats just 1:30 into the second half. Hampden-Sydney went on to score 14 unanswered points and never looked back as the Tigers' lead grew to double digits.
Green led the game in points with 20 as he shot 7-of-12 (58.3 percent) from the field and 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) from beyond the arc off the bench. Nichols also finished with double-digit points as he scored 13 in the contest. Charles and John Seidman each grabbed six rebounds in the game, while Parra collected five. Seidman and Suchy tied for the team-high in assists on the night with six each.
F&M looks to bounce back as it hits the road to face Albright Friday at 7:00 p.m.
