Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (2-6, 1-4 CC) was defeated by Haverford (5-3, 4-1 CC), 56-45, in its Centennial Conference game Saturday afternoon.
F&M kept within reach of Haverford throughout the first half as the Diplomats closed the second quarter on a 7-2 run to trail 21-19 entering halftime.
The Diplomats took a timeout with 5:28 left in the second quarter down 19-12. The timeout paid off as Jaclyn Feit immediately laid her shot in. Haverford knocked down two free throws on the other end, but F&M responded with a three-pointer from Hailey Cabanas to cut the Fords' lead to 21-17. Ally Trebelev connected with Natalie Kolb for the senior to lay it in right before the halftime break.
Coming out of halftime, Haverford went on a 13-4 run to take a 34-23 lead. F&M and Haverford traded buckets as Lizzie Neville knocked down a jump shot while Kennedy Wilburn and Kolb knocked down two free throws each during the stretch. The Diplomats worked the score to a nine-point deficit with 3:18 remaining in the third quarter, but that would be the closest they would get as Haverford slowly extended its lead to close the game.
Wilburn led the Diplomats in scoring with 13 points, while shooting 87.5 percent (7-of-8) at the charity stripe. Wilburn also nabbed a team-high nine rebounds in the contest. Kolb followed with 10 points, shooting 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from the field and tallying eight rebounds.
Franklin & Marshall travels to Cabrini Friday for a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
