Box Score LANCASTER, Pa.-- The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day at the Mayser Center with style as the Diplomats secured the 57-48 victory Saturday afternoon over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) play. The Diplomats (10-15, 8-12 CC) benefitted off a 7-0 run to close the third quarter to power past the Green Terror's (6-19, 4-16 CC).
F&M honored seniors Makenzie Bradley, Maia Lockhart, Alisyn Narracci, and Kenna Williams before the game, and the lone member of the 2021 senior class, Emily Moran, at halftime.
The first frame was very closely-contested as the teams battled through three ties. A jumper from
D'Naisha Bellamy-Greene lifted the Diplomats to the 10-8 advantage with 3:45 remaining. After a Green Terror bucket knotted the game at ten aside, F&M proceeded to unleash a 12-0 spurt to take a 22-10 lead with 7:09 left in the half. Buckets by Williams, Lockhart, and Narracci, three of the seniors participating in their last contest, spurred the run. The Green Terror responded with a quick 8-0 during the final minutes of the first half to slice their deficit to 27-24 to the break.
A McDaniel layup midway through the third frame pushed the Green Terror back to a 30-29 advantage, their first lead since their early 2-0 edge.
Natalie Kolb quickly answered with a layup of her own to earn back a 31-30 lead. Both teams went back and forth for the next few minutes, until a Kolb made free throw handed the Diplomats a 35-34 with 2:54 remaining in the quarter, a lead they never relinquished for the remainder of the game.
F&M expanded its lead with a 9-0 burst to lead 43-34 with 7:33 remaining in the final frame after a
Kenna Williams layup. The closest the Green Terror got the rest of the way was a four point deficit (48-44) with 3:42 remaining. The Diplomats held their own the rest of the game as a 9-4 push, which included a Narracci three and four made free throws from the charity stripe by Wiliams was enough to seal the 57-48 triumph.
Both teams were identical with field goals (18-57, 31.6%). F&M found their scoring edge in result of free throws as the Diplomats made ten more than the Green Terror (17-7). F&M dominated McDaniel on the boards, 46-35.
Three Diplomats posted double digit points as Williams netted 15 points and Narracci and Kolb recorded 11 apiece. Williams and Feit hauled in seven boards apiece to lead F&M.
