Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. -- Franklin & Marshall men's basketball fell behind early and never recovered in a 78-48 loss to No. 19 Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Tuesday evening. The Blue Jays (17-2, 13-1 CC) scored 21 of the game's first 26 points to roll past the Diplomats (8-14, 5-10 CC).
Johns Hopkins rolled out to a 21-5 lead just over six minutes into the contest, eventually ballooning it to 24 at 36-13 with 5:43 remaining. A Kane Feudtner triple pulled the Diplomats back to within 17 with 2:54 left, but the Blue Jays pushed it back to 21 at the break.
A 7-1 run to open the second half had the Blue Jays doubling up the Diplomats 54-27 less than three minutes in. The lead touched its largest at 37 with 8:39 left in the half at 72-35, eventually settling on the 78-48 final.
F&M shot 35.7% from the field, and finished almost the same from the charity stripe hitting just 6-18. The Diplomats held the edge in the turnover battle, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Blue Jays' 52.7% shooting and 15 2nd chance points.
Solomon Mathis paced the Diplomats with 14 points on 7-14 shooting. John Seidman came close to a double-double with 9 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Diplomats now head to Muhlenberg to face off against the Muhls on Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
