Women's Lacrosse Dismantles Ursinus, 18-4

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The No. 2 Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team scored early and often during an 18-4 Centennial Conference victory at Ursinus on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats (12-1, 5-0 CC) have now won 12 straight games entering the final two weeks of the regular season.

Gillian Brennan had a career day with five goals and two assists for seven points. Helping to put the attack in motion all afternoon was Lydia Cassilly. The first-year finished with six points as five of those came on assists. Marissa McGarrey added a second hat trick to the Diplomats' attack, while Kate McLam, Sydney Lowe, and Ally Marino each scored twice and added one assist for three points of their own.

Franklin & Marshall recorded the first 17 goals of Saturday's contest as the Bears did not crack the scoreboard until the 2:11 mark of the third quarter. McGarrey, Marino, and McLam each tallied twice during the opening 15 minutes, while Cassilly additionally converted her free-position chance. Brennan got her huge day started with three goals in the second, in addition to Sarah Delaney, Bridget Kane, and Sydney Lowe adding their names to the scoresheet.

Brennan had her fifth goal of the afternoon by the 10:19 mark of the third period, with Lane Lambeth, Lowe, and McGarrey also scoring during that period. Emily Kitchin played the first 45 minutes in goal and stopped four of the five shots on goal she faced. Molly Donatelli made one save in just under 10 minutes of playing time before Emily Toft closed out the final five-plus minutes in the cage.

Franklin & Marshall held a 33-8 advantage in shots after 45 minutes and finished the afternoon with a 35-13 edge in that category. F&M additionally held a 14-9 advantage in draw controls as Ava Turner and Lambeth each controlled four of the restarts. The Diplomats also caused 12 turnovers on the defensive side of the field with Lambeth adding three more CTs to her well-rounded day. Delaney Liston and Mary Pat McKenna each had a pair of caused turnovers. McKenna and Kitchin led F&M with three ground balls.

Women's lacrosse will now have four games over the final two weeks of the regular season. Up next will be the annual showdown with Gettysburg. The only two teams that are still undefeated in conference action, the Diplomats and Bullets will renew their rivalry this Wednesday, April 20 at 4 p.m. in Gettysburg. F&M will return home next Saturday against Washington College as that contest will be Senior Day for the Diplomats.
