LANCASTER, Pa. – Darby Klopp found the back of the net late in regulation to help the Diplomats (4-3, 1-0 CC) down 20th-ranked Ursinus (3-4, 0-1), 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field.

After a Ursinus foul, the Diplomats took over possession deep into UC territory. Darby Klopp collected the ball, split two defenders, and slipped a shot into the net to put F&M ahead. The goal is her first of the season.

The Diplomats had many opportunities in the game, as they fired 15 shots with 10 on net in the contest. Early in the second quarter, F&M sent three shots towards the net in a 30 second span. After Kat Study's shot was saved by the UC goalkeeper, Carolina Riley fired a shot that was blocked by the Bears' defense. Amelia McCarthy gained possession of the ball and sent a shot attempt that skated wide of the left post and out of play.

Another F&M scoring opportunity arose in the third quarter. Avery Niedland's shot was saved by the UC goalkeeper, but F&M drew a penalty corner just seconds later. McCarthy sent another shot that was denied by Ursinus. One minute later, Niedland attempted another shot on goal that was saved by the Bears' keeper.

Sydney Lippe made two big saves in the game to keep Ursinus off the scoreboard. The first one came with 30 seconds left in the first quarter, as UC drew a penalty corner. The ball was sent in front for a shot attempt that was kicked away from danger by Lippe. The second save came six minutes into the fourth quarter. Ursinus took a shot from the side of the net that was denied by Lippe. As the rebound bounced back out, Lippe came out of the net to clear the ball away from the opposing forward.   

F&M will hit the road to face Gettysburg in a CC game Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
