Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall volleyball team (7-6, 1-0 CC) won its first Centennial Conference match, 3-0, against Ursinus (10-1, 0-1 CC) Saturday afternoon at Mayser Center. The Diplomats didn't allow the Bears to score over 15 points in a set, as F&M beat UC 25-15, 25-14, and 25-13 to sweep the match.
The F&M defense shut down the UC offensive attack early and often in the match, limiting the Bears to hitting percentages of .200, .160, .080 in each set. Led by Meredith Mangum's 13 digs, the Diplomats totaled 39 digs in the match. The Diplomat offense capitalized on their chances, posting a hitting percentage of .474 in the second set. Gianna Mangiamele tallied the team-high in kills with eight. Coco Shultz and Sydney Levins followed with seven kills each. Shultz also posted a hitting percentage of .438 in the victory.
F&M wrapped up the match by starting an 8-2 run in the third set. The run was one of the biggest of the game for either team, and helped F&M run away with the third set. Jada West and Sydney Levins accounted for three kills combined during the run.
Liah Perez finished with a game-high 20 assists. As a team, the Diplomats finished with four block assists in the win.
Franklin & Marshall prepares to face Gettysburg on the road in a CC match Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
