Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (6-8, 3-6 CC) pushed past McDaniel (6-8, 4-5 CC), 62-53, in its Centennial Conference game Saturday afternoon at the Mayser Center. Two Diplomats finished with double-doubles as Kennedy Wilburn and Natalie Kolb ended the contest with 16 points and 14 rebounds each.
The lead switched sides multiple times as neither team managed to shake the other until 3:53 left in regulation, where F&M began a 16-5 run to close the game. Down 47-46, Wilburn knocked down a pair of free throws to give the Diplomats the lead. Lizzie Neville drained a three-pointer, followed by two points each from Ally Trebelev and Kolb to extend F&M's lead to 55-49 with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Franklin and Marshall went 7-for-8 at the free throw line to end the game and solidify the win.
Franklin & Marshall erased a six-point deficit in the second quarter as Quinn Galligan splashed a three-pointer to make it an 18-15 game with 6:19 remaining in the half. 30 seconds later, Kolb grabbed an offensive board and laid the shot in to make it a one-point game. McDaniel held a 23-21 when the Diplomats forced a turnover with 13 seconds left in the half. Leila Walton connected on a mid-range jumper to beat the buzzer and tie the game at 23-all after 20 minutes of play.
Wilburn tallied her fifth double-double of the season, while Kolb earned her first of the year. Galligan also finished in double figures as she scored 10 points in the win. F&M controlled the glass in the contest as the Diplomats outrebounded the Green Terror, 44-36.
Franklin & Marshall looks to build momentum when it travels to Johns Hopkins Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
