Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall men's basketball team (8-8, 3-6 CC) dropped its Centennial Conference matchup to No. 13 Johns Hopkins (13-3, 7-2 CC), 89-60, Wednesday evening. The Blue Jays used a big second half where they outscored the Diplomats, 52-26, to pull away with the victory.
Tied at 13-all halfway through the first half, Omar Nichols knocked down a three pointer that was followed by a layup from Riiny Giir on the following possession to give F&M an 18-13 lead. After JHU made a three-pointer, Vakaris Grauslys connected from beyond the arc on the other end to hold F&M's five-point advantage. The Blue Jays responded with a 9-2 run to take a 25-23 lead with 5:54 remaining in the half.
The Diplomats kept battling to close out the first half as Nichols and Mark Suchy each hit a three-pointer to even the score at 29-all with 3:51 left until halftime. After a JHU layup, Kevin Nowoswiat answered with a three-pointer to give F&M a 32-31 advantage. However, that would be the last time Franklin & Marshall led in the contest.
Nichols led the Diplomats in scoring with 13 points, while draining three three-pointers. Giir tallied 12 points with a block in the contest. Suchy recorded 10 points with a team-high eight rebounds in the game.
Franklin & Marshall hosts Haverford on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Mayser Center.
