Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (8-10, 5-8 CC) cruised to a 56-34 victory over Bryn Mawr (3-14, 0-12 CC) in its Centennial Conference matchup Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats maintained the lead throughout the entirety of the game and limited the Owls' shooting percentage to 29.5 percent from the field.
Leading 8-6 with 1:14 left in the first quarter, F&M closed the frame on a 6-1 run that started with a layup from Lizzie Neville. After each team went 1-for-2 at the charity stripe, Hailey Cabanas knocked down a three-pointer to give the Diplomats a 14-7 lead going into the second quarter.
The teams traded buckets throughout the second quarter, leading to Neville capping the first-half scoring with a layup to give F&M a 29-21 heading into the halftime intermission.
F&M extended its lead to 33-23 with 8:29 remaining in the third quarter as Ally Trebelev drained a mid-range jumper. Kolb scored the next five points for the Diplomats to take a 15-point advantage. Franklin and Marshall outscored Bryn Mawr 9-3 in the quarter to lead 38-24 heading into the final frame.
Trebelev scored the first three points of the final ten minutes as she hit a mid-range jumper and a pair of free throws. Kolb drained her third three-pointer of the day to extend the F&M lead to 45-24 with 6:57 remaining in regulation.
Closing out the game, Hope Schreiber swiped her sixth steal of the contest at the 2:32 mark of the fourth quarter. The steal was followed by a layup from Lauren Rusas on the other end to give the Diplomats their largest lead of the game, 54-27.
Kolb finished in double-digit scoring figures as she racked up 15 points while shooting 50 percent from both the field (6-of-12) and beyond the arc (3-of-6). Walton and Jaclyn Feit tied for the team-high for rebounds with five each.
Franklin & Marshall looks to continue building momentum as they return to the Mayser Center Wednesday to face Gettysburg. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
