CARLISLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (8-1-3, 2-1-1 CC), a team receiving votes in the national poll, used two first-half goals to overpower Dickinson (7-5-1, 3-3-1 CC), 2-1, on the road in Wednesday evening's Centennial Conference (CC) contest.
F&M pressured Dickinson early in the match as the Diplomats sent a crossing pass into the box during the 16th minute.
Eileen Harvey charged at the loose ball and fired a shot off the hands of the goalkeeper and into the net to put F&M ahead, 1-0. The score is Harvey's third of the season and her fifth point in the last three games.
Franklin & Marshall notched an insurance goal in the 32nd minute off the foot of
Mikaela Timmermans for her fourth goal of the fall. Timmermans sailed a free kick in from distance that snuck over the outstretched arms of the Red Devils' goalkeeper – giving F&M a 2-0 advantage.
Dickinson broke up the shutout in the 57th minute to cut the deficit in half, but the Red Devils were unable to find the equalizer in the final 33 minutes of play.
F&M as a team totaled 11 shot attempts with seven shots on goal. Timmermans,
Bri Skidmore, and
Lillian Williams led the team with two shots each in the game.
