CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (10-2-4, 6-2-2 CC), who's receiving votes in the national poll, found the game-tying goal in the 90th minute to draw even with Washington College (6-5-5, 3-4-3 CC) - wrapping up the Diplomats' regular season slate.
Trailing 2-1 with under a minute to play in regulation,
Lillian Williams carried the ball into the offensive area for the Diplomats' final attack of the game. The ball found the foot of
Elizabeth Jones, who sent a strike past the goalkeeper to extend the Diplomats' unbeaten streak to three games. The score was Jones' second goal of the season and Warne's fourth assist of the fall.
The Diplomats faced an early 1-0 deficit as the Shorewomen broke into the scoring column first on a goal in the 15th minute. F&M quickly responded as Williams registered her seventh goal of the season off an assist from
Mikaela Timmermans just nine minutes later.
F&M as a team took seven total shot attempts with five shots on net in the game.
With the tie, F&M has secured the No. 4 seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament. The Diplomats will play the No. 5 seed Gettysburg at Tylus Field on Tuesday. The start time has yet to be determined.
