2023-24 F&M Women's Basketball Season Preview

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team tips off the 2023-2024 season this weekend in the Terry Green Tip-Off Tournament. F&M hosts Lancaster Bible at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday before playing Penn State Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The Diplomats look to replace a key starter in Natalie Kolb '23 as she graduated from the College in the spring. Kolb finished her F&M career averaging over nine points and two steals per game, while also playing an average of 30 minutes per contest.

Guard
The Diplomats' guards are led by Lizzie Neville, who averaged a team-high 33 minutes per game last season. Neville finished the season with the team lead in assists per game (1.1) and steals per game (1.6), while posting the Diplomats' second-best points per game average (9.5). Quinn Galligan averaged 30.2 minutes per game, while averaging 5.5 points and 1.3 assists per contest. Hailey Cabanas in her rookie season shot 30. 4 percent from beyond the arc with seven three-pointers last year. Hope Schreiber saw action in 24 games, averaging 75 percent at the charity stripe and picking up 1.9 points per game.

Forward
Averaging 3.9 blocks per game, Jaclyn Feit ended the year as one of the top shot-blockers in the nation. In 26.9 minutes per contest, Feit also averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Playing in 17 games last season, Kennedy Wilburn shot 33 percent from the field to average 10.1 points per game. Wilburn also led the team in rebounds, averaging 11.3 boards per night. Ally Trebelev averaged 25.1 minutes per contest, while tabbing 4.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Lauren Rusas and Leila Walton each averaged 8.9 minutes per night, with both players posting a field goal percentage over .300. Molly Flanagan saw action in 12 games last year, nabbing 13 rebounds and recording two assists.

In The Polls
F&M was selected to finish 10th in the Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Poll with 30 points. Gettysburg sits atop the poll with 99 points and nine first-place votes. Johns Hopkins sits in second with 91 points and two first-place votes. To view the complete poll, click here.

Looking Ahead
After the Terry Green Tip-Off Tournament, F&M immediately begins CC play at home against Ursinus on November 21. The Diplomats then hit the road to play Gettysburg (Nov. 28) and Washington College (Nov. 30), before returning home to host Bryn Mawr (Dec. 2) and Johns Hopkins (Dec. 6). Franklin & Marshall then plays at McDaniel on December 9 before competing in the WPI Tournament in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Diplomats play RIT on December 29 and William Smith on December 30.

F&M starts the new year with a non-conference game against Salisbury on January 6. The Diplomats then battle CC opponents Muhlenberg (Jan. 9), McDaniel (Jan. 11), Swarthmore (Jan. 13), Dickinson (Jan. 17), Haverford (Jan. 20), Gettysburg (Jan. 23), Bryn Mawr (Jan. 25), and Ursinus (Jan. 31) to finish up the month of January.

In February, F&M takes on Muhlenberg (Feb. 3), Johns Hopkins (Feb. 6), Haverford (Feb. 8), Swarthmore (Feb. 10), Dickinson (Feb. 14), and Washington College (Feb. 17) to wrap up the regular season.

The Centennial Conference Tournament will run from February 20 through February 25. The NCAA Tournament will begin on March 1. The National Championship, held in Columbus, Ohio, will be played on March 16.
