Women's Basketball Turned Away by Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (9-15, 6-13 CC) was defeated on the road by Dickinson (16-7, 13-5 CC), 62-42, in its Centennial Conference matchup Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils shot 41.5 percent from the field and outscored F&M, 42-20, in the paint to down the Diplomats.

Franklin & Marshall's only lead of the game came just five minutes into the opening quarter. After Lizzie Neville connected from mid-range, Natalie Kolb splashed a three-pointer to give the Diplomats a 7-6 advantage. From that point, Dickinson went on a 9-2 run before F&M took a timeout with 2:23 remaining in the first quarter.

The Diplomats continued to battle as Lauren Rusas and Jaclyn Feit knocked down jumpers on consecutive possessions to cut the deficit to two points. Dickinson extended its lead to 17-14 before Rusas made a layup to get F&M within one. The Red Devils answered on the other end with a layup of their own to hold a 19-16 lead after one quarter.  

Trailing 25-18 with 4:34 remaining until halftime, the Diplomats began a seven-point swing to close in on the Red Devils' lead. Quinn Galligan sank a jump shot, followed by a layup from Feit to get F&M within three. After Neville went two-for-two at the charity stripe to make it a one-point game, Dickinson closed the half scoring nine unanswered points to hold a 34-24 lead at the intermission.

F&M was held to 25 percent from the field in the second half, while Dickinson closed the game shooting 41.9 percent from the field in the final two quarters.

Kolb led the team in scoring, tallying 13 points while grabbing seven rebounds in the game. Rusas recorded a career-high nine points on 80 percent (4-for-5) shooting off the bench. Feit finished one rebound short of double-digits as she ended the contest with nine boards.

Franklin & Marshall concludes the regular season on the road at McDaniel on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
