Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (8-12, 5-10 CC) fell to Swarthmore (9-11, 7-8 CC), 72-47, in its Centennial Conference matchup Saturday afternoon.
The Diplomats trailed 28-21 entering the second half. After Swarthmore chipped in a free throw, Quinn Galligan responded by draining a three-pointer to cut the deficit to five with 8:16 left in the third quarter. The Garnet came back with three-points of their own on the next two possessions to extend their lead to 32-24.
F&M charged back at the 5:50 mark of the third quarter as Jaclyn Feit knocked down two free throws, followed by a layup on the next possession to get the Diplomats back to within five. Galligan made a layup with 4:31 left in the quarter to cut the deficit to two. F&M tied the game at 32-all after Ally Trebelev connected from mid-range with 4:02 on the clock. The teams traded buckets as Natalie Kolb responded to a Swarthmore layup with one of her own to tie the game at 34-all. However, that would be the closest the Diplomats came to gaining the lead as the Garnet outscored F&M 11-1 to close out the frame.
Feit led F&M in scoring with 12 points, while also grabbing five rebounds and blocking two shots. Kolb finished the game with 11 points and a shooting percentage of 50 percent from the field.
Franklin & Marshall now prepares to host Johns Hopkins Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Mayser Center.
