Box Score 2 CARLISLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall softball team (4-13, 0-5 CC) was swept in its Centennial Conference (CC) doubleheader at Dickinson (15-9, 5-1 CC) Tuesday afternoon. The Red Devils claimed a shutout in game one, 6-0, before walking off the Diplomats in game two, 6-5.
Game 1: Dickinson 6, F&M 0
The Red Devils scored three runs in the third and two runs in the fifth to jump out to a lead over the Diplomats in game one.
Devon Witt led F&M with two hits while Kate Clement, Alexa Klepper, and Francesca Testa tallied one each.
Ainsley McClure (2-3) was the losing pitcher in the contest – striking out seven and allowing four earned runs in a complete game effort.
Game 2: Dickinson 6, F&M 5
F&M held a 5-3 advantage entering the seventh inning, but the Red Devils scored three in the bottom of the final frame to walk-off the Diplomats.
Trailing 3-0 in the top of the third, the Diplomats got Clement and Claire Sullivan on base to lead off the inning. An infield single from Testa brought Clement all the way around to score while Sullivan raced to third safely on the play. On the next at-bat, Testa took off for second on a steal attempt. As the throw went down to second, Sullivan scored to get the Diplomats within a run. After successfully stealing the base, Testa was brought home on a single to right field by Brenda Garcia to tie the game up at 3-all.
The Diplomats gained its first lead of the contest in the top of the sixth as Kayla Kilmer singled up the middle to score Olivia Henderson. Kilmer came around to score F&M's fifth run of the game on a single from Witt to extend the lead to 5-3.
Testa led F&M with two hits in the contest. Garcia, Kilmer, and Witt each tallied an RBI in the game.
Aliza Sheflin (2-7) was hit with the loss as she recorded one strikeout in six innings of work in the circle.
Franklin & Marshall hits the road to play a non-conference doubleheader against Moravian Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
