Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 17-1 win at Bryn Mawr on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats and Owls were tied at one-all after 15 minutes before the Diplomats ripped off 16 unanswered goals to close the regular season with a 13-4 record.
Maddy Birch and Lauren Pittman led all scorers as each recorded a hat trick. Lane Lambeth and Kate McLam added multiple goals to the winning effort as 11 players finished with their names in the scoring column. F&M's goalies stopped six of the seven shots on goal they faced. Alyssa Moran got the start and made two saves during the first half to record her 13th victory of the season. Molly Donatelli started the second half and stopped all four shots she faced before Sara DiGiovanni finished out the game in the cage.
Lambeth scored the opening goal of the game just under three minutes into regulation, but Bryn Mawr was able to send the game into the second period tied at one with its tally at the 2:11 mark. The Diplomats would not be held down for much longer as they scored eight more during the second quarter before an additional eight during the second half. Lydia Cassilly, Sydney Lowe, and Gillian Brennan all got on the board during that 8-0 run in the second quarter.
Claire Book scored her first goal of the game during a 3-0 third quarter before tallies from Devyn Crone, Liv Cooper, and Julia Carbon were part of a 5-0 spurt during the final 15 minutes. F&M enjoyed a 44-9 advantage in shots as Bryn Mawr's goalie was called on to make 24 saves. Madison Bray secured four draw controls to help her side to a 16-6 advantage in the restarts while Lambeth added two caused turnovers to add to her efforts on the attacking side of the field.
The Diplomats had already secured the No. 2 seed in next week's Centennial Conference Tournament prior to today's game and will now await the winner of third-seeded Haverford and sixth-seeded Muhlenberg for their CC semifinal inside Shadek Stadium on Friday, May 5. Gettysburg finished as the top seed, with Washington College and Ursinus earning the fourth and fifth seeds, respectively.
