Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – The No. 10 Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team scored 16 straight goals during the first through third quarters in an eventual 19-3 win at McDaniel. The Diplomats trailed 2-0 just over two minutes into the game, but that deficit did not last for long as the Green Terror scored just once during the final 57:11 of regulation time.
Lydia Cassilly led the way with five goals and an assist, while Maddy Birch, Sydney Lowe, and Lauren Pittman all tallied multiple goals. With the help of her two goals, Maddy Birch eclipsed the 100 point mark for her collegiate career. Lucy Rogers and Amelia McCarthy both scored the first goals of their respective careers throughout the CC victory, with Sarah Bowyer, Madison Bray, Gillian Brennan, Lane Lambeth, Abby Gravel, and Sarah Delaney adding their name to the score sheet as well.
The Diplomats scored 10 goals in the first quarter, jumping out to a 10-2 lead and were up 14-2 at the half. F&M would go end to blank the Green Terror during the second and fourth quarters while building a 37-8 advantage in shots. F&M also earned a 17-8 advantage in draw controls and 19-13 edge in ground balls.
All four F&M goalies saw time during the victory. Alyssa Moran picked up the victory as she made one save during the first half. Molly Donatelli played the entire third quarter before Sara DiGiovanni and Emily Toft split the final 15 minutes. Franklin & Marshall's goalies made two saves on the night, with Toft stopping the only shot she faced.
Megan Bizub and Ava Turner each collected four draw controls, while Delaney Liston and Pittman each secured three ground balls. Julia Carbon and Belle Dintino each caused two turnovers as the Diplomats forced 15 of the Green Terror's 25 turnovers.
Now 3-0 in the Centennial Conference, women's lacrosse returns home to Shadek Stadium this Saturday for a 12 p.m. opening draw against Ursinus. The Diplomats have three home and three road Centennial Conference matchup that await on their Centennial Conference schedule during the month of April.
