BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (4-0-1, 1-0 CC), who's receiving votes in the national polls, shutout Bryn Mawr (2-2-1, 0-1 CC) 2-0 on the road in Saturday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) opener. F&M totaled 14 shots (12 on net) while only allowing the Owls to take three shots (zero on goal) in the match. The victory marked the third shutout win of the season and the second-consecutive shutout victory for the Diplomats.
F&M broke the scoreless tie in the 43rd minute as
Lillian Williams scored her second goal of the season on an assist from
Eileen Harvey. The score was Williams' second game-winning goal of the fall, while the assist was Harvey's first point of her young career.
The Diplomats outshot the Owls 8-0 within the first 45 minutes of the game.
F&M came out of the halftime break with an immediate push on offense, resulting in a goal from
Mikaela Timmermans in the 48th minute. The goal was Timmermans' second score of the season and the senior's fifth point in her last two games. Timmermans led the game in shots with all four of her attempts being on target.
Franklin & Marshall generated six corner kicks in the match with three coming in each half.
F&M begins a three-game homestand beginning on Wednesday hosting Haverford at 7:00 p.m.
