No. 25 Women's Soccer Cruises to 5-0 Win Over Haverford

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 25 Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (5-0-1, 2-0 CC) used five different goal-scorers en route to a 5-0 shutout over Haverford (3-3-1, 0-1 CC) in Wednesday evening's Centennial Conference (CC) game at Tylus Field. The victory marks the fourth shutout win for the Diplomats this season.

F&M's early offensive attack paid off as Mikaela Timmermans headed in a crossing pass from Sophie Koziol 51 seconds into the match to put the Diplomats ahead, 1-0. The score is Timmermans third of the season and her eighth point in the last three games.

Attempting to add insurance to the lead, the second goal eluded the Diplomats for a great majority of the first half as both Timmermans and Elizabeth Jones hit the crossbar while Alison Francis bounced a shot off the right post. F&M finally found the back of the net again with 27 seconds left in the first half as Kat Tandler chipped a shot over the outstretched arms of the Fords' goalkeeper for her first-career score.

The Diplomats remained aggressive on the offensive end going into the second half with the attack immediately paying off on a goal from Bri Skidmore in the 49th minute for her team-leading fourth score of the fall. Two minutes later, Alex Wilson buried her first-career goal on a feed from Timmermans to push the F&M lead to 4-0.

F&M's scoring spree was capped on a 74th-minute score from Emily Cook for her first-career goal.

Kate Boujoukos, Koziol, Timmermans, and Lillian Williams all recorded assists in the game. Timmermans led the game with three points in the win.

Despite having only three saves in the box score, Lucille Fleming was brilliant in net as she broke up several crossing passes to extinguish any opportunities the Fords had at breaking-up the shutout.

F&M outshot Haverford, 16-9, in the match while only allowing one shot attempt in the final 45 minutes.

Franklin & Marshall now prepares to host Swarthmore Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Tylus Field.
