Volleyball Wins Third Straight Match

LANCASTER, Pa. - On the heels of back-to-back wins, the Franklin & Marshall Volleyball team won its third consecutive match, defeating Lancaster Bible, 3-1. With the victory, the Diplomats improved to 15-0 all-time against the Chargers,

F&M opened the contest with a dominant start, leading 7-3 to begin the first set. After two straight points scored by Lancaster Bible, the Diplomats used a 10-1 run to take a 17-6 advantage. Lauren Arnold went on to close out the frame with a kill as F&M went up 1-0 in sets.

The beginning of the second set remained tightly contested as the Diplomats held a slim, 10-8 lead to start. Following a 6-0 Chargers run, however, Lancaster Bible would not trail for the rest of the stanza. F&M did manage to even the score at 19-19, but the Chargers won six of the final seven points to win the set. 

After the two teams traded points to open up the third frame, the Diplomats went on an 8-1 run to go up 15-8. Lancaster Bible was unable to close the gap by less than 5 as another Arnold kill gave F&M the set. 

The Diplomats did not trail for the entirety of the fourth stanza and led by as much as eight. Trailing 16-10, the Chargers rallied to make it a 17-14 set. However, F&M answered with a 4-1 run and went up, 21-15. A final kill from Gianna Mangiamele later clinched the match for the Diplomats, 3-1. 

Offensively, Mangiamele led the team with 10 kills while Liah Perez recorded a game-high 18 assists. Meredith Mangum notched a team-best 22 digs.

F&M is set to begin conference play this weekend, as it welcomes Washington College to thr Mayser Center on Saturday, September 30 at 12 p.m.
