Field Hockey Finishes Strong in 4-1 Win at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (8-6, 5-2 CC) scored three times in the final quarter to race past Haverford (7-6, 3-3 CC), 4-1, in Saturday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) matchup.

The Diplomats broke into the scoring column first in the contest as Jessica Miller found the back of the net seven minutes into the first quarter for her sixth goal of the season. F&M was limited to just two more shots in the first half, while Haverford was kept off the scoreboard on seven total shot attempts.

The Fords flipped the field with a quick transition to offense and found the equalizer with 8:46 in the third quarter. With just under six minutes remaining in the game and the score tied at 1-1, F&M scored back-to-back goals from Caitlin Hoover and Hannah Fitzgerald to jump ahead of the Fords, 3-1. Hoover scored her sixth goal of the season, while Fitzgerald recorded her fifth goal of the year. Keira Boensch was credited with her third assist of the fall, while Hoover picked up her sixth assist of the season on the goal from Fitzgerald.

The Diplomats pressured Haverford all the way to the end - scoring their fourth goal of the game on a penalty stroke from Caroline Roschen in the final minute of regulation for her first-career goal.

Franklin & Marshall registered seven shots on goal on eight attempts with Hoover and Miller leading the way with two shots each in the win. Goalkeeper Meghan Dole made four saves, including a save on a penalty stroke in the first quarter to earn her eighth win of the year.

Franklin & Marshall returns home to Tylus Field on Wednesday to host Swarthmore at 7:30 p.m.
