GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (7-4-6, 5-1-3 CC) scored a goal in the 58th minute to defeat Gettysburg (2-10-4, 1-6-2 CC), 1-0, in Wednesday evening's Centennial Conference (CC) game. A defensive battle through 57 minutes of play,
Zoe Warne found the back of the net in the 58th minute to propel the Diplomats over the Bullets. The win guarantees F&M a spot in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament.
In the 58th minute,
Lillian Williams created separation from her defender and sent a crossing pass to Warne who sent a shot into the top of the cage for her first goal of the season. Williams was also credited with her third assist of the year on the play.
The game entered halftime after a defensive stand-off that allowed just four total shots in the first 45 minutes of play. F&M had its first shot of the game come in the 14th minute as
Kate Boujoukos had her shot blocked in front of the net. The Diplomats then tallied its first shot on target in the 25th minute as
Colleen Ferrarese fired a shot just outside the box towards the top part of the net. However, Gettysburg's goalkeeper made an impressive leaping save to bat the ball over the crossbar to keep the game scoreless.
F&M's offense delivered in the second half with eight shots, including Warne's game-deciding goal. The Diplomats also limited Gettysburg to just three shots in the final 45 minutes to down the Bullets.
In the game, F&M outshot Gettysburg, 10-5, with Williams leading the Diplomats with two shot attempts. Franklin & Marshall also earned five corner kicks and allowed three corners to the home team in the contest.

Lucy Fleming made three saves to claim her fourth clean sheet of the season.
Franklin & Marshall currently sits in third place in the Centennial Conference standings and plays its final game of the regular season when it hosts Washington College Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
