LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (3-2-6, 1-0-1) battled McDaniel (8-1-2, 4-0-1 CC) to a 1-1 draw in Saturday evening's clash of Centennial Conference (CC) teams at Tylus Field.
F&M found the back of the net first in the 21st minute as
Julianna Sirico sent a crossing pass to
Dahlia Pepe, who sent her shot past the McDaniel goalkeeper for her fifth goal of the season. Sirico was credited with her second assist of year on the play.
Franklin & Marshall outshot McDaniel, 7-2, and earned five corner kicks in a solid first-half effort for the Diplomats' offense.
The Diplomats came out of the halftime break with four shot attempts within the first 10 minutes of the second half. However, it was the Green Terror who would score first on a blast in the 60th minute to tie the game.
Both teams had opportunities to take the lead as the game was winding to a close, but the best chance at a game-winner came from McDaniel's Grace Duffey in the 85th minute as she lofted a shot that was headed towards the top of the cage. However,
Lucy Fleming made a great leaping save to deflect the ball out of play to keep the game tied.
F&M recorded 16 shot attempts and seven shots on goal in the game. Pepe led the contest with four shot attempts, while
Kate Boujoukos and
Sophie Koziol tallied three each.
Franklin & Marshall returns to Tylus Field on Tuesday when it hosts Ursinus at 7:00 p.m.
