No. 19 Men's Soccer Denied by Connecticut College in NCAA Tournament

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The No. 19 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (10-3-7) was defeated by Connecticut College (12-2-6), a team receiving votes in the national poll, 3-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday afternoon. Despite F&M outshooting Conn. College 15-9 in the contest, F&M couldn't find the back of the net as the Camels held on to advance to the Sweet 16.

The Camels gained an early lead with goals in the 13th and 39th minute to lead 2-0 after 45 minutes of play. F&M had multiple chances with six total shots in the first half. After Conn. College scored the opening goal, Connor Anderko sent an attempt in the 17th minute towards the top-left corner of the cage. However, the Camels' goalkeeper Peter Silvester was in position to make the save. Trailing 2-0 in the 43rd minute, Wes Wise fired a shot towards the bottom-right corner of the net, but Silvester was there once again to make and save – keeping the Diplomats off the scoreboard.

Conn. College started the second half taking the first three shots of the half, with the third attempt finding the back of the net to extend the Camels lead to 3-0.

The Diplomats had seven shots on goal in the contest with Anderko tallying four and Koa Kaliebe, Nic Petruso and Wise each recording one. F&M also earned seven corner kicks and limited Connecticut College to just three in the game.

No. 19 Franklin & Marshall ends its season with an overall record of 10-3-7 – making its 11th-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
