Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 19 Men's Soccer Outlasts Washington College, 2-1

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 19 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (9-1-7, 7-1-1 CC) scored twice in the second half, including a game-winning goal in the 86th minute to down Washington College (8-4-6, 4-3-2 CC), 2-1, in F&M's regular season finale Saturday evening. Before the game, the F&M men's soccer team honored eight members in a Senior Day ceremony. Those members included: Jack Borden, Jack Nury, Adam Green, Isaac Mintz, Jake Rosenfeld, Nic Petruso, Levi Kline and Koa Kaliebe.

After a scoreless first half that saw the Diplomats outshoot the Shoremen, 8-3, F&M ramped up the offensive pressure immediately out of the halftime intermission. In the 57th minute, a loose ball in the Washington College box found the foot of Kaliebe, who buried a shot into the top-right corner of the net for his team-leading eighth goal of the season. Meanwhile, Borden was credited with his first assist of the season on the play.

Washington College knotted the contest up at 1-1 in the 69th minute with a goal that was tucked just inside the right post.

F&M continued to apply pressure on offense, drawing a free kick in the 86th minute in hopes of a potential game-winner. Mintz sent a long crossing pass that was headed into the right side of the net by Thomas Kaplan to give the Diplomats a 2-1 lead. Kaplan scored his fourth goal of the season and the first game-winning goal of his career, while Mintz claimed his second assist of the season on the play.

Franklin & Marshall outshot Washington College, 19-14, in the contest. Kaliebe led the game with six shots, while Green and Kaplan tallied three shot attempts in the win. Nolan Booth made three saves in net to secure the victory for F&M.

With his 75th-career start, Mintz became the all-time leader for games started in F&M men's soccer history.

No. 19 Franklin & Marshall clinched a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament and prepare to host a semifinal game on Friday. An opponent and start time have yet to be determined.
