LANCASTER, Pa.- The fourth-seed Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (10-8, 6-4 CC) booked a spot in the Centennial Conference semifinal with a 2-0 win over fifth-seed Haverford in the Centennial Conference Tournament first round.

A pair of third-quarter Diplomat goals came from
Keira Boensch and
Hannah Fitzgerald, while the F&M defense allowed just four shots to help give
Meghan Dole a two-save shutout.
Each side managed just a shot in the first quarter, while the Diplomats took full control in the second quarter with nine shots, three shots on goal, and seven penalty corners. The Fords registered no shots or penalty corners in the second quarter.Â
Boensch's game-winning goal came in the 38th minute in the aftermath of a penalty corner, as she slotted a back-handed shot from ten yards out low and past the goalkeeper. Fitzgerald added the second goal just four minutes later, as
Megan Dadio worked her way past a pair of defenders from midfielder and played a through ball to Fitzgerald directly in front of goal who found a gap past the goalkeeper.
Haverford managed a pair of shots in the fourth corner, forcing a defensive save from
Annie Malatesta and a blocked shot, but they were unable to get back into the game.
The Diplomats will face the tournament's second seed, #16 Ursinus, on Thursday, November 7. The Bears earned a 2-1 win at Tylus Field in the regular season.Â
