Boujoukos' Overtime Winner Pushes Women's Soccer Past Haverford, 1-0, in CC First Round

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 3 seed Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (9-4-6, 6-1-3 CC) punched its ticket to the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament with a 1-0 overtime victory against No. 6 seed Haverford (11-6-2, 5-3-2 CC) Tuesday evening at Tylus Field.

Three minutes into the overtime period, F&M sent relentless pressure towards the Haverford defense. A clearing attempt by the Fords was denied by Hayden Wilson, who chipped the ball back into the Haverford box. The loose ball bounced off a defender and was headed by Dahlia Pepe, which found Kate Boujoukos in front of the cage to bury her fifth-career game-winning goal. The score was Boujoukos' fourth goal of the season, while Pepe was credited with her second assist of the year.

Early stages of the contest saw a defensive battle that included limited chances for both teams to break into the scoring column. Haverford had two early opportunities within the first ten minutes of the match that included a save from F&M's Lucy Fleming in the seventh minute of play. Just two minutes later, the Fords had a golden opportunity from Phoebe Garfield. However, Garfield's shot rang off the crossbar and bounced away from the open cage. F&M had its lone shot of the first half come in the 12th minute from Pepe, but her shot went wide of the net.

Haverford led the Diplomats in shots, 5-1, after 45 minutes of play.

Both teams ramped up the pressure in the second half with the Diplomats firing two shots on net within the first five minutes of the final half of regulation. Despite being narrowly outshot in the second half, 7-6, F&M generated five corner kicks and held Haverford to just two in the period.

Zoe Warne and Alex Wilson tied for the team high in shots with two each in the win. In net, Fleming made four saves to earn her sixth shutout of the season and her third clean sheet in as many games.

No. 3 seed Franklin & Marshall now gets set to hit the road to face No. 2 seed McDaniel in the CC Tournament Semifinals on Friday, starting at 2:00 p.m.
