Julian Thomas - before the game, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Basketball team defeated Washington College in its regular season finale.
With each team shooting 3-of-5 from the floor to start the first half, the score was level at 7-7 by the 16-minute mark. Later tied 12-12, F&M went on a 21-4 run, in which it knocked down five three-pointers, to take a 17-point advantage with just over four minutes remaining. Over the course of that run, the Diplomats held the Shoremen to 2-of-10 from the field and forced four turnovers. However, Washington College responded with 10 unanswered points over the next three-and-a-half minutes to get to within seven with less than 30 second left in the half. On F&M's final possession of the frame,
Vakaris Grauslys drilled a shot from beyond the arc as the buzzer sounded, giving the Diplomats a 36-26 lead at the break.
In a back-and-forth start to the second period, the two teams combined to shoot 6-of-14 in the first six minutes of play, as F&M held a 45-33 advantage with a little over 14 minutes remaining. Four minutes later, though, an 8-2 run by the Shoremen cut the deficit to six. The Diplomats then answered with a 6-1 run to extend the lead to 11 with under seven minutes left to go. With F&M in front 56-49 several possessions later, the Diplomats buried three more shots from distance to build their lead back up to 15 and put the game out of reach for Washington College.
Vakaris Grauslys finished the tilt with team-highs of 18 points and five rebounds.
John Seidman tallied six a game-high six assists along with seven points. Shooting 14-of-28 from the three-point line on the afternoon, F&M made its most shots from the perimeter this season.
The Diplomats now await their opponent for the Centennial Conference Tournament based on the remaining results of league play.
