LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team was defeated in its spring season opener, 9-0, by No. 8 Johns Hopkins Sunday morning at the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center. The Blue Jays were dominate in the match – proving they belong as a top team in both the region and the nation.
Franklin & Marshall kept pace with the visitors in the first doubles match as
Mackenzie Sherman and
Sophia Rhazali stood tall against their opponents. However, the Blue Jays remained composed to take down the Diplomats' duo, 8-5. JHU then claimed the next two doubles matches with a final score of 8-1 in both duels.
Rebecca Bellick had the closest singles match in the No. 3 position, getting on the scoreboard in both sets. However, sophomore was held off, 6-1 and 6-2, to fall in the match.
Franklin & Marshall now hits the road to face TCNJ on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
