BALTIMORE, Md. - Playing in the Centennial Conference Tournament Semi-Finals, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Basketball team fell to Johns Hopkins 76-55.
In what was a strong start for the Diplomats, F&M began the game up 7-0 after making three of its first four shots from the field. However, the Diplomats then went cold, making just one shot from the floor over the next seven minutes, during which the Blue Jays outscored F&M 15-5 to take the lead for good. With the Diplomats' shooting struggles continuing, Johns Hopkins went ahead 27-18 after the eight-minute mark. The Blue Jays then ended the final two minutes of the half with a pair of made three-pointers to go ahead 38-26 at the intermission.
In a back-and-forth start to the second half, Johns Hopkins held a 43-32 advantage four minutes into the frame. The two teams then traded five points each over the next five minutes before a 6-1 run by the Blue Jays extended their lead to 16. Less than four minutes later, Johns Hopkins grew its advantage to 20, in front 65-45. With F&M unable to overcome the deficit, the Blue Jays punched their ticket to the conference championship.
Despite the loss,
Josh Parra tallied his seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The defeat marks then end of the 2023-24 campaign for the Diplomats, who saw significant improvement from last year with their first 20-win season since 2018.
