LANCASTER, Pa. - Following a loss in its last time out, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Basketball team bounced back with a 70-49 domination of Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon. Including the Mules, the Diplomats have now swept four Centennial opponents this season.
After the two teams made just one basket each in the opening three minutes of the game, F&M exploded for a 10-2 run for an eight-point lead. Just over four minutes later, Muhlenberg cut the deficit in half, trailing 15-11, before 11 unanswered points by the Diplomats, including three triples, put F&M up by 15. Though the Diplomats led by as much as 16 in the half, the Mules ended the final minute of the frame on a 7-0 run to make it a 35-27 game heading into the locker room.Â
Leading 37-29 in the early stages of the second half, F&M extended its lead to 23 with a 20-5 run. In that span, Muhlenberg shot 1-of-11 and committed a pair of turnovers. Though the Mules did respond with 11 unanswered points of their own, a 9-2 run by the Diplomats put the game out of reach for Muhlenberg. In the last five minutes of the game, the Mules once again struggled from the floor, shooting 1-of-5.Â
With team-highs of 15 points and 12 rebounds,
Josh Parra recorded his fifth double-double of the season.
Kevin Nowoswiat led the team with four assists to go along with 12 points. On the boards, F&M out-rebounded Muhlenberg 43-26, making it largest margin in a game this season.Â
The Diplomats will now travel to No. 24 Johns Hopkins on Tuesday, February 6 at 8 p.m. where conference tournament seeding implications are at play.Â
