PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No. 21 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team lost its opening match of the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference (MASC) Championships to No. 5 Virginia, 9-0, Friday evening. The Cavaliers improve to 10-2 on the year, while F&M falls to 6-12.
The Diplomats were held without a win, but did battle until the very end in the contest.
Cate Costin was outlasted in the No. 3 slot as she dropped a hard-fought first game, 14-12. Later in her match, Costin was narrowly denied in the third game, 11-9.
Zarine Gidwaney (No. 4) and
Mia Todd (No. 5) also made it challenging on their opponents with high-scoring games, but couldn't overcome the deficit – both falling in their respective matches.
No. 21 Franklin & Marshall looks to get back in the win column when it takes on No. 15 Georgetown Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
