Men's Lacrosse Downed by No. 7 Dickinson, 13-6

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's lacrosse team was dealt a 13-6 setback at the hands of No. 7 Dickinson under the lights of Shadek Stadium on Wednesday evening. The nationally-ranked Red Devils (8-1, 2-0 CC) and Diplomats (6-4, 0-2 CC) were separated by just one goal before the visitors from Carlisle scored eight of the next 10 to take control of the Centennial Conference contest.

Six different players scored for the Diplomats, with defender Jackson Barnhill striking for the first goal of F&M's night at the 5:57 mark of the opening period. Mason Montrella got the game to the aforementioned 3-2 score off a feed from Dillon Mannix with 25 seconds to go in the first quarter, but the Red Devils stole that momentum back with a goal just two seconds prior to the period expiring.

That goal late in the first quarter started a 4-0 run in favor of the visitors as F&M scored just one goal during both the second and third quarters. Down 7-2, Colin Hueston broke the Diplomats' scoreless stretch off a pass from Montrella 13 seconds before the half. Franklin & Marshall also had the opening goal of the defensive orientated third quarter as Mannix scored at the 5:22 mark of that period off a pass from Kai Kelly.

A second 4-0 run from the Red Devils set the score at 11-4 with 9:32 left in regulation. Kelly and Jack Luviano each scored during the fourth quarter for the hosts as the two sides traded goals during the final six minutes of the 13-6 final.

Dickinson finished with a 47-33 advantage in shots as both teams saw their respective goalies make 10 saves. Sage Garito made nine stops in 54 minutes of action before Teddy Scarborough made one additional save during the final six minutes. Kevin O'Connor aided the defensive effort with three caused turnovers, while Luke Topley added two more. Those two players were also second and third on the team in ground balls, trailing only Adam Soper who collected five ground balls after winning seven face-offs.

Men's lacrosse will welcome another nationally-ranked opponent to Shadek Stadium this week when No. 15 Swarthmore visits this Saturday in a 12 p.m. start.
