BALTIMORE, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (9-12, 6-3 CC) was defeated on the road at No. 7 Johns Hopkins (17-4, 9-0 CC), 5-0, in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament Thursday evening.
The Blue Jays cruised through the doubles matches with three wins to take an early advantage. With Johns Hopkins only needing two singles' wins to clinch the victory in the match, JHU claimed wins in the No. 3 and No. 4 slots to advance to the CC Championship. The duo of
Lorena Saavedra and
Amelia Squires battled in the middle doubles match, but were held off 8-4. The duo of
Mackenzie Sherman and
Sophia Rhazali in the No. 1 match and the pairing of
Kakie Colclough and
Presley Daggett in the No. 3 match both fell 8-2 in their respective matches.
In the No. 3 singles match, Sherman was held off, 6-0, 6-2, while
Rebecca Bellick fell in the No. 4 match, 6-0, 6-0, to complete the win for the Blue Jays.
Franklin & Marshall concludes the season with an overall record of 9-12 and a CC record of 6-3 – making the semifinals of the Centennial Tournament for the second-consecutive year.
