LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team has made its first two trips to the NCAA Tournament in program history during the past three seasons. That success included the program's first-ever appearances in the Centennial Conference Championship match during those 2021 and 2023 campaigns. The Diplomats graduated eight seniors from those record-breaking teams, but return eight players who started at least nine matches last year and have four returning All-Centennial Conference honorees looking to lead another successful season on the pitch this fall.

2024 Diplomats
Forward
Averaging over two goals per game last season, the Diplomats return their leading goal scorer in junior Lillian Williams who finished the 2023 season with eight goals and four assists. Totaling 20 points on the year, Williams was both a first-team All-Region V and first-team All-Centennial Conference selection a season ago. Senior Dahlia Pepe did most of her damage off of the bench last season but has been a starter throughout her career and ranks 21st in school history with nine career assists to go along with four career goals.

Sophomores Emily Cook, Lillian Kleiman, Taylor Weiss additionally saw significant playing time a season ago. Kleiman scored her first collegiate goal during the victory against Penn State Berks, while Cook tallied her first collegiate goal against Haverford. Junior Elizabeth Jones appeared in 19 matches last fall, making two starts. She scored the first two goals and added two more assists during the 2023 season.

Newcomers: Katherine Finnerty (Florida, N.Y.), Ashley Inacio (Monmouth Beach, N.J.)

Midfield

Franklin & Marshall is the most experienced in the midfield where the team returns four players who started at least nine matches, including three of the team's four captains in junior Kate Boujoukos, junior Zoe Warne, and senior Alex Wilson. Wilson was a third-team All-Region V and second-team All-Centennial Conference selection who appeared in all 20 matches, making 16 starts. She scored one goal and added two assists.

Junior captains Boujoukos and Warne were also multi-goal scorers for the Diplomats. Warne added three goals and two assists while appearing in every game. Boujoukos tallied twice and added three assists to aid in the offense's efforts. Another senior leader on the team, Sophie Koziol, appeared in all 20 matches for the Diplomats last season. She scored the first goal of her collegiate career against during a win versus Ursinus and has five career assists. Sophomore Isabella Fedele also started five matches for the Diplomats during her rookie campaign and will be another reliable option at both ends of the field.

Newcomers: Ellison Errington (Madison, N.J.), Hayley Jaeger (Matawan, N.J.)

Defense

The Diplomats allowed just 0.70 goals per game a season for the second-best average in school history (0.49 GAA in 2021). The team also registered 11 shutouts which ranked second only to the 2021 squad's record of 13 clean sheets. Senior captain Hayden Wilson and sophomore Colleen Ferrarese are both returning starters from that unit. Wilson has started all 55 matches during which she has played in her collegiate career, while Ferrarese was an honorable mention All-Centennial Conference selection during her rookie season who also scored a goal versus Marywood.

Junior Julianna Sirico appeared in a career-high 15 matches last fall. For her career, she has played in 21 contests while making one start. Sirico recorded her first collegiate point with an assist against Elizabethtown during the 2023 season. Classmate Amanda Imhauser has played in 12 career matches during her first two seasons with the Diplomats, making one start heading into her junior campaign.

Newcomers: Grace Craig (Doylestown, Pa.), Meghan Ross (Greenwich, Conn.)

Goalie

Anchoring the strong defensive performances in goal was Lucy Fleming who took over as the starter during her rookie season and already owns the second-best goals against average (0.74) in program history. She started 19 games last season and stopped 81.6 percent of the shots she faced while posting nine solo shutouts. Through just one season, she is already just outside of the top 10 in program history with 11 career wins.

Senior Emily Senko is another strong option in goal as she owns the school record for career goals against average (0.49) after taking over as the starting during the program's first NCAA Tournament run in 2021. Senko did not allow a goal in over 83 minutes last season and posted a 0.53 goals against average when she saw the majority of the time in goal two seasons ago.

Newcomers: Molly DeBrandt (Kensington, Md.)

The Road Ahead
Following a 12-4-4 season (6-2-2 CC), Franklin & Marshall was one of four teams from the Centennial Conference that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Diplomats defeated Swarthmore by a 1-0 score to make their second appearance in the conference championship last season. The regular season rematch for 2024 will be on the road on September 28. Defending conference champion Johns Hopkins will welcome F&M to Baltimore on October 19, while the Diplomats will host 2023 NCAA qualifier McDaniel at Tylus Field on October 5 to highlight an always-challenging conference slate.

Throughout the non-conference portion of the schedule, F&M has challenged itself with 2023 national qualifiers in Washington and Lee (Sept. 7) and Penn State Berks (Sept. 30). The Diplomats did not suffer a loss in non-conference play during the regular season a year ago, as they tied the Generals and earned a 3-0 victory against the Nittany Lions. The Centennial Conference Tournament will once again welcome six qualifiers, with the first round matches set to begin on Tuesday, November 5 at campus sites before wrapping up with the championship on Sunday, November 10. The NCAA Tournament will open on Saturday, November 16.

In the Polls
Franklin & Marshall was picked fourth in the Centennial Conference Preseason poll during a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches. The Diplomats earned 79 points in the poll and were just edged out of a higher finish by both Swarthmore and McDaniel who each secured 83 points. Johns Hopkins was a unanimous choice as the preseason favorite. Dickinson (63 points) and Gettysburg (54 points) were predicted to claim the final two spots in the postseason.
