LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team opened up Centennial Conference play with a 6-0 victory at home against Bryn Mawr on Saturday afternoon. That season high in goals came just three days after the Diplomats had previously scored a season-best five goals during Wednesday's victory over Arcadia, giving the team 11 goals during its last two matches.
The team was also celebrating Senior Day on Saturday as Dahlia Pepe made her Senior Day memorable with two goals, with classmate Alex Wilson also finding the back of the net for the eventual game-winning goal. Lillian Williams also scored twice during Saturday's conference victory, with sophomore Emily Cook tallying the final goal of the afternoon. Saturday's conference opener also saw seniors Emily Senko, Hayden Wilson, Sophie Koziol, and Chloe Tollinger honored on the field during a pregame ceremony.
Alex Wilson's goal was the first of her senior campaign after she tallied her first career goal just one season ago. That goal was set up on a pass from Julianna Sirico just under 18 minutes into the match. It took just five more minutes before Williams scored her first of two goals on the afternoon on a penalty kick. Pepe closed the first half scoring during the 31st minute as she got her strong day started off a pass from Colleen Ferrarese.
Pepe finished her first career multi-goal game with an unassisted tally during the 70th minute of game action. That started a furious finish for the Diplomats as Williams scored her second of the day – and team-leading fifth of the season – just two minutes later. The multi-goal performance was the third of Williams' career and gives her 13 career goals. The final tally of the afternoon came with 13 seconds remaining in regulation as Cook scored her second career goal on her first goal this season. Cook's final goal came off the assist from first-year Katherine Finnerty who was credited with her first collegiate point on the assist.
Franklin & Marshall finished the contest with a commanding 27-2 advantage in shots while earning the only two corner kicks of the match. Lucy Fleming got the start in goal and made one save during her 45 minutes in goal before Molly DeBrandt played the final 45 minutes while stopping one shot during her half of the combined shutout.
Women's soccer continues Centennial Conference with a pair of matches this coming week. The first of those two matches will be this coming Wednesday, September 25 at 4:30 p.m. against Haverford.
