No. 23 Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Tie Against Kean

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 23 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (3-0-5, 1-0-0 CC) played Kean University (2-4-3) to a 1-1 tie on a rainy Wednesday evening at Tylus Field. Koa Kaliebe found the back of the net in the 63rd minute for the game-tying goal to help F&M remain unbeaten so far this season.

A relatively even first half ended with the Diplomats outshooting the Cougars, 5-4, and resulted in the game being scoreless after 45 minutes of play. The second half, however, saw both teams come out firing with Kean breaking into the scoring column first with a goal in the 48th minute.

In the 63rd minute, Kaliebe received a pass outside the box and made a shifty move around his defender to set up a clear shot in which he launched into the top-right corner of the cage. The score was Kaliebe's second of the season and the 17th goal of his career.

Franklin & Marshall had opportunities late with shots from Jack Borden in the 64th minute and Kole Wintersteen in the 86th minute just missing the net. However, the Diplomats had their best look at the game-winning goal with just seconds on the clock as Adam Green's shot was denied by a sliding Kean defender.

F&M outshot Kean in the second half, 16-5, but couldn't find the go-ahead goal. Kaliebe led the game with seven shot attempts, while Wintersteen followed with five in the contest. In net, Nolan Booth made four saves to remain unbeaten so far this year.

Franklin & Marshall now readies for a top-25 matchup when it travels to play No. 13 Swarthmore on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
