Women's Soccer Battles Elizabethtown to 2-2 Tie

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (0-1-1) had its non-conference contest against Elizabethtown (1-0-1) end in a 2-2 tie Tuesday evening at Ira R. Herr Field. In the effort, Lillian Williams recorded the second multi-goal game of her career with two first-half scores.

Elizabethtown got the scoring started in the 19th minute of the match, but the Diplomats responded 10 minutes later as Williams buried a shot into the lower-right corner of the net to tie the game up at 1-1. Colleen Ferrarese and Ashley Inacio were both credited with an assist on the play – which is the first of both players' careers.

The Blue Jays didn't hesitate to push back on F&M as the home team found the back of the net in the 30th minute to retake the lead. Once again, Williams claimed the equalizer as she snuck a shot into the bottom-left corner of the cage during the 38th minute for her 11th career goal. Also on the play, Zoe Warne picked up her first assist of the season and the fourth of her career.

It is F&M's first tie since its 2-2 draw against Washington College last season.

Williams led F&M with four shots, while Sophie Koziol tallied three in the game. As a team, F&M outshot Elizabethtown, 16-7, with 10 of its 16 shot on net.

Franklin & Marshall continues its road trip when it heads to Washington and Lee on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
