Gurlin Kaur of the Franklin & Marshall women's squash team completed the first day of competition at the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships on Saturday as she battled her way through the Holleran Cup – East bracket.
Kaur started the day as the No. 6 seed going against No. 5 seed Tanmai Pathak from Amherst. Kaur jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as she won the first game, 11-4. However, Pathak claimed three straight games, 11-4, 13-11, 11-2, to claim the match.
Kaur responded with a big 3-1 win in her consolation match Saturday evening as she downed Chatham's Clara Braga. Facing an early 1-0 deficit, Kaur answered by winning three-straight games, 11-4, 11-4, 11-4, to pick up here second-individual win of the season.
With the victory, Kaur advances to the Holleran Cup – East Consolation Final, where she will face Columbia's Eva K Salzman on Sunday at 12:20 p.m.
