GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's cross country team saw six of its nine entrants set personal best times Saturday at Gettysburg's Aubrey Shenk Invitational. Those career best performances led the Diplomats to the a 10th-place finish in the team standings in a field that featured 34 different teams. Saturday's race was the Diplomats' final preparations before the Centennial Conference Championships when the team returns to Gettysburg in two weeks.
Tommy Tapino was F&M's top finisher with a career-best 8,000 meter time of 25:32.0. He placed 20th overall in a field of 316 finishers. The Diplomats saw each of their top three finishers set personal best times as Zach Houff (26:05.0) and Addison Neuen (27:32.4) turned in the best time of their collegiate careers. The Diplomats' first four finishers overall were each sophomores as Sean Gorman (27:37.6) was just outside of joining his teammates in the top 100.
George Williams (27:44.3) and Brian Mix (28:28.4) also set personal best times at the 8,000 meter distance, with Aiden Cotter (28:34.6) finishing as F&M's seventh runner. Harvey Li turned in the final personal best of Franklin & Marshall's day as he crossed the line in a time of 28:59.0 before Cole Smith finished in 29:26.1.
With the regular season concluding on Saturday, the Diplomats will now turn their attention to the aforementioned Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday, November 1 with the men set for a 12 p.m. start.
