BRYN MAWR, Pa.- The No. 15 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (14-3, 7-2 Centennial Conference) earned a third-straight shutout in a 2-0 win at Bryn Mawr (7-10, 2-7 Centennial Conference) on Tuesday afternoon.
Keira Boensch and Megan Dole had goals for the Diplomats, while
Caitlin Hoover provided the assist on each goal.
Meghan Dole made two saves in the shutout.Â
The Diplomats outshot the Owls while generating 15 shots on goal against just two from the F&M, while they outdrew the hosts in penalty corners, 13-3.
Boensch scored the game's opening goal in the fourth minute from a penalty corner. The initial ball was played into Hoover who passed left to Boensch who took one touch before threading the ball through the Owls' defense.
Both sides totaled two shots in the first quarter, while the Diplomats controlled the pace in the second quarter, 6-0.Â
The third quarter featured a combined nine shots, with Bryn Mawr holding a narrow 5-4 advantage, although the scoreline stayed at 1-0 entering the final period.
Franklin & Marshall took full control in the fourth quarter, outshooting the hosts 8-1 with four penalty corners against zero from Bryn Mawr. Dadio's game-securing goal came with three minutes to go off yet another penalty corner. The Owls withdrew their goalkeeper by this point, and Dadio slotted the ball past several defenders in front of goal from the edge of the circle.Â
The Diplomats wrap up the regular season with a trip to Swarthmore on Saturday, November 1, at 1:00 p.m.
