No. 19 Field Hockey Concludes Non-Conference Play with 5-0 Win Over Cortland

LANCASTER, Pa.- The No. 19 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (8-2, 1-1 Centennial Conference) rounded out the 2025 non-conference schedule with a 5-0 win hosting SUNY Cortland (4-6, 1-1 SUNYAC) on Saturday afternoon.
Hannah Fitzgerald had a five-point day, posting two goals and one assist, to lead the offensive showcase. Caitlin Hoover, Megan Dadio, and Caroline Roschen each had one goal, while Isabelle Allen and Keira Boensch totaled one assist apiece. F&M's defense conceded just five shots, with Meghan Dole saving the two shots on target for her third shutout of 2025.
The Diplomats scored their quickest goal of 2025 when Hoover scored her conference-leading 12th goal 57 seconds into the game. Molly Donadoni played a ball down the line to the corner to Fitzgerald who cut back towards goal, juggling the ball past her defender and finding Hoover in front of goal with a cutback to open the scoring.
Fitzgerald doubled the advantage with her first goal one minute into the second quarter. Dadio began the sequence with a line-breaking ball over the top of the defense that was then controlled by Fitzgerald on the left-side of the circle. From there, she cut inside of her defender, dribbled in front of goal, and beat the keeper low and left. F&M carried a 2-0 lead into halftime, outshooting Cortland 9-2 across the opening 30 minutes.
Dadio scored the team's third goal in the 38th minute from a penalty corner. Boensch played the ball in front of goal from the circle before Dadio tipped her shot past the keeper at the near post. It was F&M's lone goal of the third quarter where they generated a game-best eight shots and five penalty corners.
Fitzgerald made it a brace just seconds into the fourth quarter following successful pressing from Hoover to force a turnover. Allen received a cross from Hoover before passing the ball to her left to an unmarked Fitzgerald for a close-range goal. Roschen completed the scoreline thirty seconds later with a penalty stroke attempt that went into the cage off the right-side post.
The Diplomats continue the current three-game home stand by hosting Gettysburg on Wednesday, October 8, at 4:30 p.m.
