LANCASTER, Pa. – The NCAA Division III Football Committee officially announced the 40-team field that will compete for the 2025 national championship. Not only is F&M making its first-ever appearance in the national field, the Diplomats will be hosting that game as they received a bye and were picked as a second round host.
In its NCAA Tournament debut, the Diplomats will face Eastern University (9-1, 8-1 MAC) who won the Middle Atlantic Conference. The Eagles have made a rapid ascent up the conference standings and are in just their third season as a varsity program. The Diplomats and Eagles share one opponent in Lebanon Valley on the season. Franklin & Marshall defeated LVC during the opening week of the season while the Flying Dutchmen handed Eastern its only defeat of the entire season.
Franklin & Marshall captured the Centennial Conference's automatic bid with a thrilling 29-28 overtime win against No. 3 Johns Hopkins Saturday in what the first time in conference history (43 years) that two undefeated teams in conference play met on the final weekend of the regular season.
