Baseball Eases Past Albright, 10-0

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall baseball team (14-8) claimed its fourth-consecutive run-rule victory as it powered past Albright (8-10), 10-0, in seven innings during Tuesday afternoon's non-conference contest. The Diplomats scored seven runs in the sixth inning to pull away from the Lions in the victory.

F&M got the offense started in the bottom of the third as Nick DiGiacomo walked and Noah Ford singled to put runners at the corners with no outs. Nick Lorenzo then laced a single through the right side of the infield to plate DiGiacomo for the first run of the game.

In the bottom of the third, F&M loaded the bases for DiGiacomo to work a walk to put F&M ahead 2-0. Nolan McCloskey was then was hit by a pitch to score AJ Desautels for the Diplomats' third run of the afternoon.

F&M pulled away in the sixth as DiGiacomo singled and came around to score two batters later to make the score 4-0. The Diplomats then loaded the bases for Tanner Wolpert to get hit by a pitch and AJ Desautels to work a walk to extend the lead to 6-0. The next batter, Andrew Filippelli lined a double into the left center field gap to score two and push the lead to eight. Desautels came in to score on a groundout, followed by Filippelli being brought home on a balk call to cushion the F&M lead at 10-0.

DiGiacomo and Wolpert recorded two hits each, while Filippelli led the game with two RBI.

Dan Galef (5-1) earned the 20th win of his career to tie Ted Serro '06 for the program record. Galef struck out five and allowed six hits and no earned runs in four innings of relief. Shane Rebane made his second-career start on the mound as he didn't allow a base runner in two innings of work. Sebastian Holl closed the game with one strikeout and two hits-allowed in one inning of relief.

Franklin & Marshall begins Centennial Conference (CC) play on Saturday, hosting No. 4 Johns Hopkins in a doubleheader starting at noon.
