Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Defeats Haverford, 11-7, Stays Unbeaten in CC Play

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's lacrosse team scored six straight goals to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 8-3 advantage during its Centennial Conference victory on Wednesday night against Haverford. The Diplomats (8-2, 2-0 CC) remained undefeated in conference action with their eventual 11-7 victory against a Fords' (8-2, 1-1 CC) team that came into the contest receiving votes in the latest USILA national poll.

Eli Crystal paced the attack with four goals, two of which came during that scoring run which held Haverford off the board from the 11:17 mark of the second quarter until there was 6:23 remaining in the third. Kai Kelly scored F&M's first two goals of the contest under the lights, putting his side up 1-0 and later knotting the game at two-all.

Haverford took a 3-2 lead during the early moments of the second quarter, but the aforementioned run of six consecutive goals gave the Diplomats plenty of insurance down the stretch. In addition to Crystal's first two goals of the night, Jackson Barnhill, Charlie Bernicker, Dillon Mannix, and Jack Luviano added to that scoring spree.

With F&M holding the 8-3 lead, Haverford brought the game to a two-goal deficit with three consecutive goals of its own, but fourth quarter goals just 65 seconds apart from Crystal and Dylan Reese gave the hosts a 10-6 lead with under 10 minutes to play. Crystal scored his fourth and final goal of the evening with 2:28 remaining in regulation of the eventual 11-7 final.

Franklin & Marshall finished with a 43-33 advantage in shots. Haverford finished the game with a slight 22-21 edge in shots on goal, but 15 saves from Diplomats' goalie Teddy Scarborough loomed large in the final outcome while his counterpart made 10 stops. The Diplomats also held Haverford to just 17-of-27 on its clearing attempts. Owen Hire played a huge part in that success as he caused four turnovers, with Peter Della Volpe creating two turnovers of his own as F&M finished with 12 caused turnovers as a team. John Bolognesi led the hosts with six ground balls.

The Diplomats continue Centennial Conference play this Saturday, March 29 at Washington College. The opening face-off in Chestertown is scheduled for 1 p.m.
