Diplomats Take Part in Knecht Cup Regatta

4/14/2025 5:35:00 PM

CHERRY HILL, N.J.- The Franklin & Marshall women's rowing team competed in this weekend's Knecht Cup Regatta, which brought teams from up and down the east coast.

Competing against Skidmore, Washington College, Carnegie Mellon and the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Varsity 8+ Division III category, the crew from bow to stern of Nicoletta Roman, Daphne Heines, Lindsey Wright, Nancy Nguyen, Maria Darrup, Audrey Zawoiski, Charlotte King, and Maddie Messer with Riley Cox as coxswain took 4th in their heat with a time of 8:35.04. The placement did not allow them to advance to a final on Sunday.

The Varsity 4+ crew from boat to stern of Chi Truong, Lucy Connolly, Savanna Maness, Sarah Blum, and Skyler Houghton as coxswain was unable to complete their heat due to technical difficulty.

"This was a weekend with a butterfly effect happening for our women's program," said Head Coach Bob Brady. "It's on us to be able to overcome various challenges as they come our way, but unfortunately, they got the better of us at Knecht. Fortunately, we have a couple of weeks in which we can work together, regroup and refocus, and start building off the first half of the season for the next couple of races."

The Diplomats return in two weeks to compete in the Gifford Pinchot Sprint Regatta on Saturday, April 26.
