LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 38 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (9-9, 5-2 CC) earned it second-consecutive shutout-victory, sweeping Ursinus (11-10, 2-5 CC), 7-0, Saturday afternoon inside the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center.
The Diplomats began the contest with three wins in doubles.
Zac Ashtiani and
Gonzalo Gentou won the No. 1 match, 6-2, for their 10th victory together this year. The pairing of
Luke Brodsky and
Soren Rudin-Aulenbach defeated their opponents in the No. 2 match, 6-1, for their 13th win of the season.
Tucker Chesman and
Campbell Gervais claimed their first win together as the pairing as they defeated their opponents in the No. 3 match, 6-4.
The Diplomats carried their momentum into the singles matches with Brodsky winning the No. 1 match, 6-0, 2-0, WR for his eighth singles' win this spring. Ashtiani defeated his opponent, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 2 match for his seventh victory of the season.
Samuel Donnelly notched his 11th win of the year, defeating his opponent in the No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-3. Rudin-Aulenbach came out victorious in the No. 4 match, 6-2, 6-3, to earn his 12th singles' win this spring. Gentou claimed his sixth win of the year as he defeated his opponent in the No. 5 match, 6-1, 6-1.
Aaron Kwock ended the day for the Diplomats, winning the No. 6 match, 8-4, for his second victory this season.
No. 38 Franklin & Marshall gears up for a road match to start the Centennial Conference Tournament. The Diplomats face Haverford on Thursday in the semifinals. A start time has yet to be determined.
