HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 36 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (9-11, 5-2 CC) had its season come to an end Thursday afternoon as the Diplomats were defeated by No. 16 Haverford (15-4, 6-1 CC), 4-0, in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament.
The Fords jumped out to an early lead with wins in the first two doubles' matches.
Zac Ashtiani and
Gonzalo Gentou suffered a narrow defeat, 6-4, in the No. 1 match. The duo of
Luke Brodsky and
Soren Rudin-Aulenbach was later held off in the No. 2 match, 6-3.
Haverford completed the victory as it took down the Diplomats in the No. 2, 3 and 5 matches to advance to the CC Championship. Gentou fell in the No. 5 match, 6-0, 6-1, before Ashtiani was defeated in the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-0.
Samuel Donnelly couldn't catch his opponent in the No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-3, as the Fords secured their victory in the semifinal.
No. 36 Franklin & Marshall concludes its season with an overall record of 9-11, while earning a 5-2 record against CC opponents.
